The Cyber Security Challenge UK

Representatives from UK Government, Academia and the Private Sector are concerned that they can’t always recruit the high calibre of cyber security professionals that they need.  As a result of discussions, they have established The Cyber Security Challenge UK.  This initiative starts with competitions which will test the cyber security skills needed by employers.  However, it is much more than just a series of competitions.  The Challenge is designed to generate enthusiasm for cyber security jobs, develop and nurture talent and enable people to fill key British jobs.

Judy will explain how the challenge will work and how successful contestants will qualify to attempt more difficult challenges and receive training and career development, thus opening up opportunities to move into key information security roles.

Judy Baker

Judy has over 20 years experience of operational and advisory roles in security.  She was a founder member of NISCC (the National Infrastructure Security Coordination Centre) and as Deputy Director, was responsible for the delivery of practical and focused information security advice to Critical National Infrastructure businesses.  Working directly with organisations she developed and implemented new methods of sharing sensitive data, including through information exchanges.

When NISCC merged to form CPNI (Centre for the Protection of National Infrastructure), Judy became the senior manager responsible for strategy, communications and policy.

Since September 2009 she has been working independently on a number of different projects, including establishing the Cyber Security Challenge UK.
