It
gives me much pleasure to invite you to our forthcoming Symposium on the
topic of “Knowledge Integration in the Information Jungle”. By kind
permission of the Commodore, Maritime Warfare School, our Symposium will
be held once again in the Millennium Hall, HMS Collingwood. As you will
see from the accompanying story line and programme, it promises to be a
most stimulating day as our speakers take us through this highly topical
issue.
AFCEA South’s aim is to give you an highly informative
and interesting day, a good networking environment, and excellent value
for money. Indeed, we know of no other symposium that offers this
quality of professional debate at such a low cost. As we are a ‘not for
profit’ organization, any surplus we may generate from the event will go
primarily to the AFCEA Academic Trust. It supports awards to the top
student on C4ISTAR courses at:
- MWS, HMS Collingwood
- DCCIS, Blandford
- RAF College Cranwell
- Defence Academy, Shrivenham
- DISC, Chicksands
- GCHQ, Scarborough
We will also make donations to selected service
charities.
I anticipate we will have about 300 attendees from the
active military, industry, MoD civil service, and academia. Please note
the dinner to be held in the Wardroom the night before which always
proves to be a most enjoyable and well attended affair.
We are conscious that there are considerable financial
pressures on many of you – both in industry and MoD – and we would much
rather have you at the Symposium than have an empty seat. Please ask our
Treasurer (south.treas@afcea.org.uk), Jim Bingley, about concessionary
rates if this is an issue for you. Note also our 3-for-2 offer. Full
pricing details are in the Registration Form.
There are opportunities for companies to sponsors the
symposium, as well as to put up a stand in the foyer of the hall. Such
sponsorship is much appreciated as it helps us keep the overall cost of
the event down and to thereby encourage a greater number of attendees.
Please contact Capt Muz Murray
(SOINC-CSDNets-CISTDU-CISSO3@mod.uk) for
further details.
Finally, it would be very helpful if you could respond
as early as possible, noting the limit on places at the dinner and the
catering arrangements that we have to make.
I very much hope you will be able to support our
Symposium and look forward to seeing you on 18th November. Full details
are at
