Report - November
2011 Event - Modernising GCHQ – The ‘Donut’ Effect |
| At the
turn of the 21st Century, GCHQ faced a nexus of
strategic threats and opportunities to its twin
security and intelligence missions that required a
comprehensive reshaping of the organisation, its
culture and ways of working. This presentation
describes the challenge and tells the story of how
they responded, how the iconic new accommodation of
‘The Donut’ was pivotal in achieving the change, and
how it all turned out.
Alan Green was the Business Change
Manager and latterly the Programme Director for
GCHQ’s New Accommodation Programme. Holding various
key positions as a figure senior at GCHQ over many
years Alan led Engineering, IT and HR functions at
various times. Alan is now a consultant and
executive coach, specialising in large-scale
organisational development.
